I was in a job I hated and wanted to spend time with my family , so set up NEDay Crafts in May 2009. With having 2 young children, I noticed a huge gap in the market to encourage children to get creative and away from tv and computers.

In the Summer of 2009, I ran arts and craft workshops at  a local Surestart Childrens Centre as well as a local shopping centre.

Business continued to grow in 2010, but then in October 2010, things started to go a little quiet. I was at a cross- roads with NEDay Crafts and wasnt sure which way to turn. I was at an all time low and couldnt see whether it was even worth being in business .With the help from a business coach, who made me realise what a great job I was doing and encouraging me to look outside the box, NEDay Crafts was a new and improved creative business in the North East of England.

2011 was a massive year for NEDay Crafts - being shortlisted for IWCYC 2011 as well as inspiring students in schools within Stockton Borough Council areas. We wanted to show how budding entrepreneurs can start their own business and were amazed by these students when judging Stockton Christmas Sparkles Market Challenge.

NEDay Crafts were also proud to work with Durham County Council in 2011 and The Castlegate Shopping Centre, Stockton. We also were recognised by Entreprenur Dragons Den Theo Paphitis via his Small Business Sunday he runs on Twitter every Sunday evening.  This gave our business a huge boost and was an amazing experience.

So for 2012, we feel its going to be an even better year - we are already looking for stockists for our eco friendly craft kits and hope to export many more in the coming year. We are always designing new projects and feel children should be encouraged to get creative, but be also educating children in eco friendly and recycling.

I am always looking for new projects and challenges for the future. So if you would like to work with us or if you are looking to start your own business, maybe we can guide you and mentor you. Feel free to get in touch.

I hope I have inspired you - only yesterday, someone told me I have so much energy and determination and have put the North East on the map for children's creativity
