My greatest personal achievement was setting up Horizonworks. At that time I was actively discouraged from setting up the business because of the difficult economic situation. However, I was convinced there was a place in the market for an outsourced marketing organisation and I went with my gut feeling and instincts.

I wanted to be my own boss for as long as I can remember, and I gave up a well-paying job and overcame a great deal of adversity including setting up a company in the middle of a recession in order to follow my dream. I have faced many obstacles in my past career and education, but overcame them and am now running a successful company.

Horizonworks Marketing is a strategic marketing company offering a full range of services from strategy development and planning to delivery of communications, PR, events and design. I established the company in March 2010, following 12 years working in senior marketing positions for a range of well-known public and private sector businesses across the North-East of England.

Having acquired the experience and knowledge of running a marketing department, I spotted the gap in the market and identified that our USP would be to focus upon providing our clients with a fully outsourced marketing option. Clients can select and choose from our specialist marketing services to augment their existing facilities or we can deliver the work of a full time marketing department. With both, we develop close working relationships with our client and ultimately add value to their business.

Over the past two years, I have built a successful client base with many of our clients, although not all, in the science, technology and healthcare sectors. We spotted a niche for providing marketing support in these sectors and in keeping with the Horizonworks USP of being an outsourced marketing department we have helped a range of organisations to grow. With our expertise in the sector , we are in an excellent position to provide further support in these areas.

Our clients range across public sector agencies to academia and SME’s. Whilst we work in a variety of sectors, our specialist areas are science, technology and the service sectors. Our headquarters are in Newcastle upon Tyne, however our client base spreads across the North of England including both Leeds and Manchester.
