I am about to graduate with a BA Hons in Fashion Marketing from Northumbria University.

For our main final year project we were asked to come up with a fashion related concept, which would work in today’s market place. I took this opportunity to research and then develop a concept and business, which I could launch upon graduation.

I have always been interested in business and have been running my own companies since I was 17. This includes an events company and a catering company.  I then concentrated on my studies and now I am ready to launch something even bigger and better!

The TeaShed is a design led tea and homeware company with fantastic products and very unique styles. Nothing is made without thought, care and design appreciation.   My intention is to take The TeaShed national, and then international.

Tea has been and will most probably always be at the heart of British public. People find themselves in a constant search for a ‘cuppa’; perhaps you would like one now or are indeed drinking one?

But, there is a problem. This national drink is being under-represented. Companies such as PG Tips, who have a 21.3% market share, are selling the ‘dust’ from the tea plants rather than the actual tealeaf. The public is becoming more aware of this and is looking for a better, affordable and convenient product.

The TeaShed uses 16oz heatwave paper cups which hold 20 nylon tea bags in a heat sealed cellophane bag.  Not only does this look great, but also it is also sustainable as the customer can reuse the paper cup several times and then recycle it.

These products will then be sold initially in the North East and online at www.the-teashed.co.uk with the intention to bringing the products availability in stores across the UK. The website is newly launched and other online stores and retails have already been confirmed.
